The first tour was at 1.30 p.m. on Saturday 3rd October 2015. First of all, Jan gave a 30-minute talk about the history and architecture of Brewood Hall (the posts Brewood Hall and Notes on the History of Brewood Hall contain information about Brewood Hall).

The group was then divided into two. Jan led the first party on a tour of the principal rooms of the Hall lasting about 30 minutes. At the same time, Marion invited the second party to view the gardens (the weather was dry but dull), or study the books and photographs relating to the history of the Hall which had been laid out in the dining room. Jan then took the second party around the principal rooms whilst the first party had an opportunity to see the gardens and the historical publications.

On the following day the second tour was at 3.00 p.m. This time, Jan gave the initial 30-minute talk in the lounge hall before the visitors were divided into two parties to tour the principal rooms, view the gardens (which on the Sunday were bathed in warm sun) and study the documentation.

We received favourable feedback from the visitors and everybody seemed to enjoy the event. No admission charge was made for these tours, but donations were invited towards the work of the Jan Ford Foundation which supports charitable initiatives in Myanmar (Burma) including the Bagan Free Medical Centre and various educational projects. You can find posts describing the work of the medical centre here and educational initiatives here.
